Prizes and Merit Certificates

 

Louis Von Doussa Memorial Award
This prize is awarded to a Year 12 male student who has demonstrated a high level of personal integrity, involvement in the school and potential to be a valuable citizen as well as successful achieveent in Stage 2 studies.

The recipient is determined by the Principal in consultation with the staff.

The E.W. Mattner Memorial Award
This prize is awarded to a Year 12 female student who has demonstrated a high level of personal integrity, involvement in the school and potential to be a valuable citizen as well as successful achieveent in Stage 2 studies.

The recipient is determined by the Principal in consultation with the staff.

The Old Scholars' Prize
These prizes are awarded to the male and female runners up to the recipients of the Louis Von Doussa and The E.W. Mattner awards. The criteria are as stated for those awards.

The Nathan Goodenough Memorial Award
This prize is awarded to the Year 12 student who, in the opinion of his/her peers, has shown outstanding service to the school and care and support for his/her peers. Staff will also have the opportunity to nominate the student whom they believe epitomises these qualities.

The award is in memory of Nathan Goodenough, a Year 12 student in 2000, who was tragically killed in a car accident.

Governing Council Chairperson's Award
This prize is awarded to a student who is recognised as having been widely and positively involved in the life of the school in areas such as sporting, academic and cultural pursuits.

The recipient is determined by the Principal in consultation with the staff.

Mount Barker Rotary Club Award for Citizenship
This prize is awarded to a student who displays citizenship through his/her personal integrity, involvement in school leadership activities and who has shown concern for his/her peers' welfare.

Caltex Award for Best All Rounder
This prize is awarded to a student who can be described as the best all-rounder, who has been involved in a range of activities and undertakings throughout their senior secondary schooling.

Pfeiffer Memorial Award
This prize is awarded to a Year 11 student who displays outstanding sporting ability combined with demonstrated fairness and scrupulous demeanour on the sporting field.

The award is in memory of Simon Pfeiffer, a former student, who passed away soon after his Year 12 exams in 1977. He was an outstanding sportsman, who will long be remembered for his happy disposition, outstanding leadership ability, respect for his fellow human beings, and for his love of sport.

Merit Certificates
These are awarded to students who have given service to the school in a number of areas though not as extensively as those nominated for the specific awards outlined above: the awarding of Merit Certificates is usually based on service to the school in a minimum of two areas. Areas could include any of the following: Agriculture, Resource Centre, Music/Band, Student Representative Council, Drama, Sport/Referee/Coaching, Computing, Special programmes, School representatives etc.
