Content

Students listen and respond to music and learn to create and perform music. They develop an understanding of the elements of music including rhythm, pitch, dynamics, expression, form and structure whilst developing aural skills to identify and interpret these elements. These skills are essential in making and responding to a range of music through composing and performing. Students develop ICT skills using a variety of software to write and record music.

Public performances are held to develop students as performers and to share their experiences in music with their audiences.

Students study a range of musical styles including Latin/jazz, contemporary and experimental music and musical theatre, relating these to social contexts. Additional units may be chosen from classical, world and Australian Indigenous music.
