Students design an individual experiment on a factor affecting plant growth. They conduct an experiment to collect relevant data for a written report. Students explore a breakthrough agricultural technology focusing on science as a human endeavour for a poster presentation. Students also investigate integrated pest management practices and prepare an oral presentation on managing a pest found in Australian agriculture industries. They assess feed availability in the paddocks and calculate feed budgets. 

Assessment

Agricultural reports  50% 

• Factors affecting plant growth: Design experiment - maximum 1000 words
• ‘Use of technology in Agriculture’ science as a human endeavour: Poster presentation - maximum of 1000 words  

Applications  50% 

• Integrated pest management task - maximum 1000 words or 6-minute oral presentation
• Sheep feed budget and nutrition: Numeracy discussion - maximum 1000 words

Additional Information

Students may need to purchase specific materials for their experiments if they are unavailable at school. This will only occur if the experiment proposed is realistic and achievable after a discussion with the teacher.
