Growing knowledge with earthworms

Unearthing the hidden helpers

Last week, our year 11 Agriculture classes welcomed Del Price from Australian Vermiculture. Del generously donated many kilograms of earthworms to support our sustainability projects and ran a hands‑on DIY workshop on setting up earthworm farms around the school.

She highlighted just how vital earthworms are for soil quality, nutrient cycling, and turning everyday food scraps and garden waste into rich, healthy soil. Del also encouraged students to start their own worm farms at home and observe the incredible improvements earthworms can bring to their gardens.

A huge thank‑you to Del for her generosity, passion, and commitment to helping our students learn through real‑world, sustainable practices.
