VISION FOR FUTURE LEARNING
Learning first, buildings second
To prepare for Mount Barker High School’s redevelopment, we are created a shared Vision for Future Learning.
Guided by our commitment to learning first, buildings second we are beginning with what students will need to know, experience and become so they can flourish in a changing world. This vision will help us as we work with designers to plan the redevelopment of our buildings and facilities.
VISION FOR FUTURE LEARNING
Consultation forums
Consultation forums with students, staff, current and prospective families have generated a rich collection of ideas about the future of learning at Mount Barker High School. As participants explored the guiding question, “What is our vision for learning at Mount Barker High School by 2036, so every student can flourish?”, a wide range of perspectives and aspirations emerged, reflecting the hopes of our community for future generations of learners.
The Vision Wall is now filled with ideas from these collaborative discussions. Participants identified the importance of learning environments where every student feels known, supported and challenged to achieve their best. There was a strong focus on creating meaningful and engaging learning experiences that connect students with the wider world while developing the knowledge, capabilities and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly complex future.
Consistent with our commitment to learning first, buildings second, the ideas gathered through the forums will inform both the educational direction of Mount Barker High School and the redevelopment of our facilities. This work will help ensure that future learning environments support innovative, inclusive and future-focused learning experiences for all students.
The Future Learning Advisory Group (FLAG) continues to meet regularly to review and collate the ideas, insights and themes emerging from the consultation forums. This ongoing work is helping to identify key priorities and develop a shared vision for learning at Mount Barker High School.
Recognising that not all families were able to attend the parent forums, FLAG is also exploring additional opportunities for community members to contribute their ideas and perspectives. Ensuring that all voices have the opportunity to be heard remains an important part of the visioning process as we shape the future of learning at Mount Barker High School.
Further opportunities for engagement and feedback will be shared with the community. Watch this space for further updates and ways to contribute to the conversation about future learning at Mount Barker High School.
