Canteen courtyard turned into a garden-fresh grill station
Valuable hands-on learning for our year 7 students
Year 7 students in the Paddock to Plate program recently completed a successful BBQ practical, marking the culmination of several weeks spent tending to their school garden. After harvesting their homegrown vegetables, students demonstrated strong knife handling and safety skills as they washed, chopped, and prepared their produce.
All preparation and cooking took place in the canteen courtyard, which quickly filled with the aroma of freshly grilled vegetables. Students experimented with timing and technique as they brought their garden produce to the plate, even if a few items needed a little extra time on the heat.
The session offered a valuable hands‑on opportunity for students to connect their gardening efforts with practical food preparation, celebrating a genuine farm‑to‑table learning experience.
