LEARNING AT MOUNT BARKER HIGH SCHOOL

Teaching and learning

Our teaching and learning is guided by the Australian Curriculum (Version 9.0), which outlines the learning entitlement of all students and provides a nationally consistent foundation for high-quality education. It defines the essential knowledge, skills, and understandings young Australians need as they progress through schooling, supporting their academic growth, wellbeing, and active participation in society.

In alignment with the Department for Education, our school is also implementing the South Australian (SA) Curriculum, with full implementation planned by 2027. The SA Curriculum builds on the Australian Curriculum by integrating dispositions, capabilities, and knowledge to enable deep understanding and the transfer of learning across contexts. It makes explicit what learners will be, do, and understand, ensuring learning is meaningful, connected, and future-focused. Through this framework, students develop strong conceptual understanding, essential capabilities, and positive dispositions that prepare them for success in learning, work, and life.
