HMIEC CURRICULUM
Personalised curriculum
Students learn through a personalised curriculum guided by the Australian Curriculum, with individual One Plan goals developed in partnership with families and reviewed throughout the year. These goals focus on areas such as literacy, numeracy, personal and social capability and life skills, with progress assessed in a variety of ways. Senior students complete a modified SACE, with learning designed to build independence and support positive post-school pathways.

One Plan goals
Students engage with the Australian Curriculum, which guides teachers in developing individual One Plan goals for each student. These goals align with the curriculum’s general capabilities and focus on areas such as literacy, numeracy, personal and social development, and critical and creative thinking.
One Plan goals are developed collaboratively with parents/carers in term 1 and reviewed in term 3 each year. Assessment and reporting focus on each student’s progress toward these personalised learning goals.
To meet the learning needs of students with disabilities, the SACE Board offers a set of modified subjects. These subjects are highly individualised, with curriculum and assessment designed to develop one or more SACE capabilities. Students in years 10 to 12 work towards achieving a Modified South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). This curriculum is tailored to each student’s needs and developed in consultation with families during One Plan meetings.
