HMIEC
Providing high-quality education
The Harold Mitchell Inclusive Education Centre (HMIEC) provides high-quality education for students in years 7 to 12 with a verified intellectual disability and/or other additional needs. Students are placed into the disability unit or special options classes. Programs are designed to support each student’s learning needs in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

HMIEC
Placement process
Student eligibility is determined through a panel process managed by the Department for Education’s Psychologists. The Department for Education Psychologists consider both eligibility and suitability when recommending that a student be placed in an alternative learning environment rather than a mainstream class.
HMIEC
Our philosophy
We believe every student deserves the opportunity to thrive. We are committed to supporting students in developing their independence, life skills, and confidence, empowering them to explore meaningful post-school pathways and become active, successful participants in their communities.
