We welcomed a group of students from Ritsumeikan High School for an enriching nine-day study tour. During their stay, the students immersed themselves in a variety of learning experiences, including English literacy, Physical Education, Home Economics, Agriculture and a lesson focusing on Aboriginal culture.
Beyond the classroom, they explored the local area on numerous excursions, gaining firsthand insight into our attractions and lifestyle. This program provided a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange, fostering friendships and understanding between our communities.

Reflection on the year
As parents and caregivers, we understand you want your children to feel confident, supported, and proud of what they achieve at school.
Throughout 2025, our students have continued to grow in ways that show they are becoming resilient, capable and community-minded young people. Thank you for your support, trust and partnership throughout the year. Together, we continue to help our young people grow into confident, active citizens who can achieve their full potential.
While I would love to acknowledge every individual achievement from this year, there are simply too many to name. Many of you will have followed these moments through our social media and earlier editions of The Chronicle. We are incredibly proud of our students’ academic progress and achievements, and we look forward to celebrating SACE results on Monday, December 15. Our Presentation Evening in November was another reminder of how strongly our community stands behind its young people, with long-standing supporters joining us again to present our most significant awards.
Throughout the year, students, teams, and ensembles have earned recognition at local, state, national, and even international levels. These successes demonstrate your children seizing opportunities, discovering their strengths, and building confidence for the future. Some recent highlights appear later in this edition.
At the same time, 2025 has been a year in which we have continued to strengthen the systems and structures that support your child's success. Our house system review confirmed the importance of providing every student with a sense of belonging and a consistent, supportive learning environment. Our timetable review was designed to support teachers in delivering high-quality teaching and to provide students with the conditions they need to engage and achieve. We also refined our attendance policy and follow-up processes to help students attend class as often as possible because we know how important regular attendance is for student success. Next year, the uniform committee plans to review the parent, student, and staff survey results to refine the uniform in line with the feedback received.
These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to working alongside you so that every young person at Mount Barker High School has the best chance to flourish.
