Content

The study of Physics is constructed around using models, laws and theories to better understand matter, forces, energy, and the interactions among them. Physics is based on evidence obtained from observations, measurements and active experimentation.  

Topics may include:

  • Motion and Relativity
  • Electricity and Magnetism
  • Light and Atoms 

Assessment

Skills and Applications tasks  40%

  • Motion in 2 dimensions - 80 minutes
  • Relativity - 80 minutes   
  • Electricity and magnetism - 80 minutes
  • Light and atoms - 80 minutes

Folio  30%

  • Snow Globe Investigation: Deconstruction and Design Report - 1500 words
  • Circular Motion Practical Report - 1500 words
  • Science as a Human Endeavour Report - 1500 words

Examination  30%

  • Students undertake a 130-minute examination
  • Year 12 science inquiry skills and science understanding from all topics may be assessed
