About Us

International Students

Mount Barker High School is committed to promoting excellence in its International student program. International students from all over the world are welcome and valued as part of our school community. All of our international students have different aspirations and needs. Mount Barker High School aims to ensure that these individual needs are met and to give appropriate support to our international students to ensure that they are successful. Mount Barker High School values the contributions International students make to the school community.

International students who study at Mount Barker High School generally enter mainstream classes.  Students choose the high school graduate program if they wish to complete their senior studies in South Australia and gain the SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education).  This also allows students to gain entry into an Australian university.

Alternatively, international students can participate in the 1, 2, 3 or 4-term study abroad program.  This short-term program allows students to enter mainstream classes and choose from either academic or experiential programs suitable for their interests and needs.

Students can commence their studies at the beginning of any school term from year 7 to year 12.

Government-organised and approved homestay accommodation is provided by International Education Services (IES) and is supported by the school.

Since 2005, Mount Barker High School has hosted Study Tours from various schools in Japan, Korea and Hong Kong.

The students are hosted by homestay families from the school community, chosen by Mount Barker High School, and participate in a specialised program to support the development of english literacy skills.  In addition, they participate in cultural excursions and experiences.
