Food Technology builds upon the capacities of students to make informed food choices. Students develop the skills required to analyse and respond creatively to challenges faced in everyday life, whilst also teaching them to take into account the economic, environmental and social impacts of food production, and how they can contribute to a sustainable future.  

Students explore the properties, processing, preparation and consumption of different foods through practical experiences and investigations. They will explore the importance of hygiene and safe working practices in the production of food, as well as nutrition and the understanding of labelling and marketing. 


Tasks may include:

  • Creating healthy versions of their favourite fast foods
  • Designing a unique sushi dish
  • Creating and packaging a unique product
  • Taste-testing
  • Menu planning and family budgeting
