Civics and Citizenship provides a study of the responsibilities and freedoms of citizens and how Australians can actively participate in their democracy. Students consider how laws are made and the types of laws used in Australia. They also examine what it means to be Australian by identifying the reasons for and influences that shape our national identity. Knowledge and understanding skills are taught in an integrated manner, using local, State and Federal content. 


Tasks may include:

  • Campaign Poster/PowerPoint: demonstrating understanding of Australia’s parliamentary and legal systems
  • A work booklet     
  • A group task
  • Individual written response
