Content

This course is based on the Australian Curriculum strands of Making and Responding.  

'Making' focuses on the development of artistic skills and processes. Students will develop practical skills through the exploration of materials and processes while learning to apply these skills to various types of 2D and 3D art-making.  

'Responding' focuses on developing the student’s ability to communicate about art. This is achieved through a variety of written forms, which may include aspects of:         

  • Planning and communicating their art-making in both written and visual forms (Folio)     
  • Identification and analysis of how other artists use visual elements to communicate ideas       
  • Explaining the use of techniques and processes to communicate meaning in their artworks       
  • Reflection on and evaluation of artworks
  • Development of knowledge and skills in relation to art vocabulary

Assessment 

Tasks may include:      

  • Design elements and their application
  • Principles of drawing (observational, perspective, portraiture)         
  • Painting Acrylic or Watercolour (incorporating colour theory)       
  • Digital art technologies         
  • 3D construction (various materials)         
  • Printmaking  
Each assessment task may consist of the following three components:     
  • Development work (Folio)         
  • Practical (Final Artwork)         
  • Analysis, reflection and or evaluation of practice (Theory) 

Additional Information

It is an expectation that all student who undertake art are equipped with basic drawing materials (pencil, eraser, ruler) and have an A4 artbook.
