Students engage in experiential learning based on three focus areas: conservation and sustainability, human connections with nature, and personal growth and development. Students develop skills, knowledge and understandings of safe and sustainable outdoor experiences.

Students engage in direct and personal experiences in a variety of natural environments to reflect on their study of natural areas and their potential to promote personal and group development, health and wellbeing, environmental learning and sustainable living.   


About Natural Environment  20%

  • Humans Impacts: Dune Study - 800 words
  • Sustainable Parks: Kuitpo Forrest - 800 words   

Experiences in Natural Environment  50%

  • Surf Camp Kangaroo Island: Planning and Reflection
  • Kayak Skills days and Camp: Planning and Reflection
  • 2500 words or 15-minute oral/multimodal presentation combined 

Connection with the Natural Environments  30%

  • Environmental Investigation 2000 words 

Additional Information

There is a subject levy of $450 payable before the first camp/excursion.
